Latest in a growing list of articles and books about Portland beer culture, Diana Ransom’s article in Entrepreneur “Why Portland’s Beer Economy is ‘Hoppy’“, addresses the growth of craft beer industry in the face of recession and in contrast to flat sales of the big brewers. Important topics covered in Brew to Bikes, relative to growth of jobs, the importance of place for stimulating new industries, and the importance of a strong culture of supporting local industries are also covered. My comments that appear in the article relate primarily to the latter issue.
